OPAC
The Online Public Access Catalogue is a bibliographic online tool that shows the status of each item whether in print or non-print in the physical collection. The importance of this catalogue is to show the user information on where an item is held in terms of location, it’s availability for borrowing and the number of copies in the collection. Liberty is the Library Management System used at the UoF libraries and the OPAC can be accessed from this link: OPAC
Information Research Skills
The Library offers research skills for its UGs and PGs, researchers and staff members during the semester. These sessions are offered through the following modes: face-2-face, walk-in and as scheduled classes either at the ITS Lab or online. In these sessions, participants are taught to: (i) identify information sources (ii) use the online databases available (iii) search these databases smartly using BOOLEAN Logic with keywords and authorized subject headings (iv) create references using Mendeley; a reference management tool (v) raising awareness on fake and genuine news to sources online (vi) raising awareness on the Fiji Copyright Act 1999, Creative Commons License and Plagiarism. Depending on the discipline a user belongs, the sessions are tailor-made to suit their need.
